Goblin Valley State Park, Utah

Nature is ever at work building and pulling down, creating and destroying, keeping everything whirling and flowing, allowing no rest but in rhythmical motion, chasing everything in endless song out of one beautiful form into another.

As a family we travel for fun, but we also travel for work…which is fun! And work is what brought us to Goblin Valley State Park, located in Southern Utah. This was a happy discovery in our search for filming locations for Mariposa Pictures’ short film, The Traveler. Goblin Valley State Park is an otherworldly location with an army of hoodoo goblins. And that was just what we were out to find.

We spent three days exploring and filming at Goblin Valley. It costs $20 (day use) to visit the park, which is located in Green River, Utah. There are two restrooms, one at each end of the parking lot. Also a covered pavilion with picnic tables. Definitely bring water and snacks.

From the parking lot you can take the stairs that lead down into the valley and start exploring. With no trails to follow, it is one giant playground. Well that is not entirely true, there are 6 miles of trails. But the biggest draw is The Valley of Goblins, which offers 3 square miles of space to explore. We hope these photos will inspire you to visit Goblin Valley State Park, a hidden gem in Utah.

We would totally recommend a visit to Goblin Valley State Park! The kids loved the freedom they had to climb and explore. While you are in the area, you should also definitely check out Capitol Reef National Park. Thanks so much for following along!
